I'm a senior broadcast journalism and American studies major at the University of Maryland who also has a passion for art.

For as long as I can remember, journalism has been a part of my life- from announcing the morning news along with Matt Lauer and Kate Couric to reporting on family Christmas' in front of my dad's video camera.

It was a natural choice for me to pursue journalism as a career because I not only love to write and edit video, but also because I have the creativity to put these talent together in an interesting and news-worthy way.

My past and current experiences in the field have shown me that I have made the right career choice for me, and in the future, I see myself producing a newscast for a national audience.

I decided to also major in American studies after taking several interesting and eye-opening classes that I thought would be helpful throughout my future career. These classes highlight and investigate many aspects of American society and culture, which is exactly what a journalist is to report on.

Art has always been a part of my life as well, but unfortunately I could not minor in it. Despite this, I have taken several college level art classes, including both 2D and 3D design, drawing, and graphic design.

Art will always be a part of how I express myself, but I also believe that an artistic eye is needed in journalism when putting together news packages or deciding how an online story should be presented.

I truly believe these three aspects of who I am will help me in my future career, wherever life may take me.
