Thousands Attend the Marlboro Independence Day Celebration

Local residents piled into the Marlboro Recreation Center Amphitheater with blankets and chairs in hand to listen to live music and watch fireworks light up the night sky this past Sunday, July 8th.

The Independence Day celebration and unofficial start of summer in Marlboro Township featured the Bruce Springsteen tribute band, The B Streetband, preforming classic songs such as “Dancing in the Dark” and “The Rising.”

Also at the event was the Marlboro-Nanto Youth Exchange Program selling water to thirsty event-goers to raise money for Marlboro students to travel to Japan and Japanese students to travel to the area.

Mayor Jon Hornik commented at the event saying, “A lot of planning goes in.  It’s all paid for by Investors Bank, whose our corporate sponsor so it’s not costing the tax payers anything and it is a feel good community style event with great music and a great firework show.”

Marlboro Council President, Jeff Cantor also commented saying, “Just happy to be here tonight.  Great turnout; we have thousands and thousands of people here, and it’s nice that people come out.”
